The purpose of the specific regional activity is to build the capacity of the Partner Countries (PCs) on Non-Revenue Water (including the role of GIS in facilitating NRW management).
The main objective of this activity is to develop effective intervention strategies aimed at reducing domestic water consumption. A methodology will be developed for the implementation of surveys on the efficiency of residential water use and to assess the behaviour of water users in a selected residential area with the aim of guiding the future development of such strategies.
The activity will provide support to the “Ministry of Equipment and Water (MEE)” to convert three buildings/properties of the Ministry of Equipment and Water into water-efficient buildings as much as one awareness initiative for the dissemination of best practices in water use efficiency and water demand management to public users.
The consultation will enhance significantly the visibility and public ownership and support of the UfM Ministerial meeting, feeding its draft Declaration, with comments of importance to various civil society groups as well as local authorities and parliaments (MPs).
This regional training will address Ministries of Education, Environment, Water, Development, etc., agencies and organisations of educators, as well as relevant CSOs/NGOs. It directly supports the UfM SCP efforts in the region. Through this activity a large number of educators of primary and secondary schools in the Partner Countries will be indirectly reached. It will also support the Partner Countries in the implementation of the Action Plan of the Mediterranean Strategy on Education for Sustainable Development.
Directly building on the previous Activity HE-2-REG (2021) and adhering the wishes and demands of the WES PCs, the overall aim of this regional activity is to provide technical assistance to the competent authorities of the PC to effectively implement ESD initiatives on sustainable consumption and thus contribute to the Action Plan towards 2030 of the MSESD.
