Technical assistance regional/national level

Technical assistance supports the Partner Countries  so that their institutional, legal, technical and management frameworks are conducive to prevention and reduction of pollution and a more efficient use of water.

The project will comprise of demand-driven technical assistance activities that will be directly linked to the needs of the Partner Countries for achieving the region’s common goals identified and addressed by the Union for the Mediterranean and the Barcelona Convention’s UN Environment MAP.

National Level: Around four national activities, two on water and two on environment per partner country are to be implemented by WES.

WES activities will be coordinated closely with the WES Focal Points (Water and Environment) in the Partner Countries, keeping the Delegations of the European Union closely involved.

Regional Level: WES comes with a considerable blend of regional activities on technical assistance such as trainings/workshops, study visits to European and other Southern Mediterranean countries, webinars and coached peer-to-peer exchanges.

The project will also be providing technical support to the following:

  • the UfM Water and Environment working groups
  • the European Commission for the selection of Demonstration projects
  • the Demo projects, in terms of ad-hoc technical assistance and monitoring
