WES will support the implementation of the Regional Plan for the Management of Marine Litter in the Mediterranean and the Integrated Monitoring and Assessment Program of the Barcelona Convention for Algeria. This will be done by generating data adapted to needs on the quantities, types, composition and sources of marine litter on the sea surface and on the seabed and by identifying management measures to combat tf marine litter.
Support will be provided for the development of the strategy on Green Economy in line with the new National Strategy for Waste Management (Horizon 2030). It will include improving green banking, expansion of subsidies and available funding mechanisms to the private sector and cooperation with the private sector through the implementation of a "Second generation" of contracts with industrial companies to improve environmental performance, law enforcement and social responsibility including on circular economy and Sustainable Consumption and Production.
WES will conduct a diagnosis for the performance of Non-Revenue Water in a pilot utility and develop a plan for improvements focusing on minimum cost of interventions with fast investment paybacks.
The main objective of this activity is to develop effective intervention strategies aimed at reducing domestic water consumption. A methodology will be developed for the implementation of surveys on the efficiency of residential water use and to assess the behaviour of water users in a selected residential area with the aim of guiding the future development of such strategies.
