N-E-MO-2: Consolidation actions for the ongoing marine litter activities in Morocco ‘Assistance on marine litter monitoring and management in Morocco’

N-E-LB-2b: Policy support to address single-use plastic items in Lebanon

WES will focus on the the analysis of single-use plastics activity (data analysis, sector assessment, technical measures accompanying the conversion of plastic bag manufacturers, the proposal of a policy) leading to a legal text for the progressive phasing out of plastic bags; This activity will be implemented in line with the respective guidelines, developed by United Nations Environment -Mediterranan Action Plan on phasing out single use plastic bags.

N-E-DZ-1: Support for the monitoring and management of marine litter in Algeria

WES will support the implementation of the Regional Plan for the Management of Marine Litter in the Mediterranean and the Integrated Monitoring and Assessment Program of the Barcelona Convention for Algeria. This will be done by generating data adapted to needs on the quantities, types, composition and sources of marine litter on the sea surface and on the seabed and by identifying management measures to combat tf marine litter.

The rapid urban growth in Jordan is accompanied by a reduction of recharge to the groundwater sources and an increase in storm water flows. Because of a lack of natural infiltration areas for water, there is a severe loss of water yields to groundwater adding to the water scarcity in the country. This activity will identify appropriate Natural Water Retention Measures to be implemented in two pilot zones.
