The second WES Steering Committee meeting will now be organised on-line on Monday 23 November 2020. The Steering Committee will bring together the WES Water and Environment Focal Points from the Partner Countries, the European Commission, institutional partners, representatives of the new WES Demonstration projects and regional organisations. The meeting will be co-chaired by the Contracting Authority - the European Commission, Directorate General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR). During the meeting the progress of the project since the previous SCM (September 2019) and the way ahead will be discussed, leading to the endorsement of the project’s Workplan for the next twelve months.
N-E-LB-1: Revision of guidelines and comparative study on ELVs for ten industrial activities in Lebanon
WES will provide assistance to the Ministry of Environment for the prevention/abatement of industrial pollution through the improvement and updating of the Emission Limit Values for industrial emissions and the revision of guidelines for selected industrial activities in the food and beverages sector (dairy, slaughterhouses, cow farms, meat processing), and the construction sector (Construction and Demolition Waste, cutting stone, asphalt, concrete)
WES will provide technical assistance and strengthen the capacities of the non-EU Mediterranean countries to implement effective measures to phase out Single Use Plastics. In this framework it will support WES Partner Countries in the formulation of the most appropriate and regionally harmonized measures/policy instruments to phase out Single Use Plastics and promote a circular economy.
N-W-EG-1: Strengthen the water utilities capacities to manage/reduce Non Revenue Water and detect leakage
This WES activity will assist the Asyut Water and Wastewater Company to target the reduction of Non-Revenue Water and to continue its efforts to improve Non-Revenue Water management.
More sustainable production and consumption patterns will support Tunisia in its strive towards the reduction and prevention of environmental pollution. This activity is aiming to assist Tunisia in the transition to sustainable modes of production.
